Ribes REFLAMBA®
Origins
A hybrid Ribes divaricatum Dougl in cultivated varieties since 1987, developed by dr Bauer (Max Planck Institute)
Bushes
Very vigorous, compact bushes, growing irregularly,
semi-straight stems, covered on one side with tough thorns, very large
leaves. The Reflamba bushes need considerable pruning.
Fruit
Round or oblong-shaped, medium-sized and large, dark green, not covered
with any hairs, thick smooth skin. Ripe berries can be left on the bush a
week or more without dropping. Suitable for mechanical harvesting due
to even ripening and the medium length of crack resistant stems. Average
taste, pleasantly undersweet, flavoury skin leaving nice, sour
aftertaste, firm. Low or medium vitamine C content, average sugar
content, average acidity.
Characteristic features
Late or very late to ripen, ripening evenly, heavy, regular yields. Low
or average susceptibility to powdery mildew, average resistance to leaf
drop. Highly valued for its resistance to diseases and the quality of
fruit. A high-quality variety, late to ripen, suitable for both
commercial growers and home gardeners.
